These terms explain how rewards, cashback, event tickets, purchases from businesses and the Ask Lucilla USDC wallet work. They are part of the Ask Lucilla Terms of Service. Claiming a reward is always free. Ask Lucilla does not sell cryptocurrency, and your wallet is yours.
1. Who provides rewards
Rewards are created and funded by businesses, creators and event hosts ("Providers"), not by Lucilla. Lucilla is a technology platform that shows rewards, checks claims and, for some rewards, holds the funds in escrow until they are paid under the rules below.
2. Reward types
- USDC rewards: USDC sent to the claimer's wallet from funds the Provider deposited in advance
- Cashback: a reward a Provider offers on a visit or purchase, paid to your wallet from a cashback pool the Provider funded in advance in escrow. The amount may be fixed, or it may vary within a range that is shown before you claim (see Section 6)
- Promo rewards: a discount, code or offer redeemed at the business
- Event rewards and tickets: free or paid access to an event
- Honeypot rewards: a USDC reward spread across several map zones, claimable by visiting one of them
3. Claim methods
- QR code: scan the code the business displays. If the reward also has a location, you must be within its radius when you scan
- Location: be physically inside the reward's area (at least 50 metres, set by the Provider) with a sufficiently accurate GPS fix
- Geo + QR (two-step): claim at the location, then present your redemption code or scan the business's code to redeem
- By text: some offers can be claimed through the assistant, which sends you a code to show at the business
4. Limits
- Each Provider sets how many times one person may claim (one by default), any waiting period between claims, the total number of claims, and an end date. A USDC reward pays out at most once per wallet per reward
- Rewards are first come, first served until the funds or quantity run out, and are unavailable after they end
- Recurring rewards are available only during the time windows the Provider schedules
- You cannot claim your own rewards, and members of a business's team cannot claim that business's rewards
- Completing requirements does not guarantee a reward if it has run out or ended
5. Tasks a reward can require
Providers may require you to complete tasks before claiming. Requirements are set by the Provider, not by Lucilla, and are shown before you claim.
Inside Ask Lucilla (these happen on the app's own screens and feed):
- answer a poll or survey, or watch a video
- leave a review inside the app (any star rating; a business may ask for an honest review but may not require or reward a particular rating)
- upload a photo or short video taken with your camera as proof
- follow the business or a creator, like or comment on a post, share the reward, or tag the business or creator in a post on Ask Lucilla's own feed
- stay at a location for a set time, keep a visit streak, or visit several locations in order
On another network (only where the business has connected its own Facebook or Instagram account to Ask Lucilla, and always under that network's rules):
- follow the business on Instagram, which is confirmed when you send the shop one direct message
- comment on a business's Instagram or Facebook post, or send a keyword by direct message
Never: no reward may depend on a review on Google or any other outside site. Ask Lucilla refuses to create or pay out such a reward.
6. No wagering; free chance rewards and cashback
- Ask Lucilla has no wagering, staking, betting, entry fees or paid contests, and Providers may not use it to run them
- Some rewards and some cashback pay a variable or randomly chosen amount (for example, a USDC reward or cashback whose amount can differ from one claim to the next). These are free-to-claim promotional rewards, like a store promotion, not a lottery
- No purchase necessary. Claiming any reward is always free and never requires a purchase, deposit, fee or other payment. Where the amount can vary, the possible range is shown before you claim, and the amount you receive is final
- Void where prohibited or restricted by law
- Canada: where the law requires it for a chance-based reward, you may have to correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question before the prize is awarded
- Standard account eligibility applies (Section 2 of the Terms of Service), together with sanctions screening
7. No fee on reward claims
Ask Lucilla charges no platform fee on reward claims or USDC reward payouts, on any plan. If that changes, we will give at least 30 days' notice and show the fee in the app when a reward is created; the fee in effect when a payout is made applies.
8. Promo rewards
A promo reward is a promise by the business, not by Lucilla. The business is solely responsible for honoring it, and any dispute about a discount, product or service is between you and the business. Lucilla does not hold funds for promo discounts.
9. Event tickets and escrow
- When you buy a paid ticket, the full price is held in a Lucilla smart-contract escrow on the Base blockchain. The price must be at least $0.10 USDC, and one wallet can hold one ticket per event
- Check-in: when the host's staff checks you in, the escrow is released to the host, less Lucilla's platform fee
- Cancellation by the host: if the host cancels the event, tickets still held in escrow are refunded to buyers in full
- After the event: once the event has ended, tickets that were not checked in are released to the host and are not refunded. Funds are not released merely because ticket sales have closed
- Lucilla does not offer buyer-initiated refunds. Refund requests for any other reason are between you and the host
- The ticket platform fee is shown to the host when the event is created
- Sales tax: where sales tax applies to a ticket, it is shown before you pay, collected with the price and passed to the host with the ticket proceeds. The host is responsible for charging the correct tax and remitting it. Ask Lucilla does not keep tax collected for a host
10. Buying from businesses: pay in person, pay ahead, online shops and delivery
- Listings are a menu, not a store. A business's listing shows what it offers and its prices so the assistant can answer your questions and show what a deal applies to. You buy from the business, not from Ask Lucilla, and the business is responsible for its products, services, prices and refunds
- Pay in person by default. For most deals you show your code or confirmation at the business and pay the business there, in the way it accepts
- Paying in the app is offered only for (a) event tickets (Section 9), (b) bookings, where the business may ask for an optional deposit, and (c) food ordered ahead for pickup, where the business has turned this on. You can pay by card or in USDC from your wallet, as the business accepts
- Card payments are processed by Stripe directly for the business, which is the merchant of record and handles refunds and disputes under its own policy. Ask Lucilla never receives your full card number. USDC payments go from your wallet to the business (tickets go through escrow as described in Section 9). Any Ask Lucilla platform fee is shown before you pay
- Online shops. For a business that sells on its own website, "Buy on their website" takes you to that shop, and your Ask Lucilla deal is applied in the shop's own checkout. You pay the shop directly, under the shop's terms; Ask Lucilla does not process that payment
- Delivery. If a business offers delivery, the business delivers with its own people and you pay at the door. Ask Lucilla does not arrange, perform or guarantee deliveries
- Taxes. Where sales tax applies to something you pay for in the app, it is shown before you pay and passed to the business, which is responsible for remitting it
- Refunds of booking deposits and orders are decided by the business under its own policy and applicable law, and are returned to the card or wallet you paid with
- Purchases the shopping agent makes for you on other websites are covered by Section 5 of the Terms of Service
11. Your responsibilities when claiming
- You must be physically present, or scan the genuine code, to claim
- GPS spoofing, simulated locations, VPNs used to fake location, emulators, modified apps and multiple accounts are prohibited. We record location-accuracy and spoofing signals with each claim and may reject claims that fail these checks. If an honest claim is rejected, you can ask us to have a person review it
- We reserve the right to refuse, revoke or cancel rewards obtained fraudulently or in breach of these terms, and to suspend accounts involved
- Hearing from businesses is part of claiming. Before your first claim you are asked to Agree & Claim, and every claim screen names the business. Claiming a business's reward shares your @username, contact details (name and email, and phone number if added) and the time and general area of your claim with that business, and records that business's consent to send you its offers by email, and by text message if your phone number is verified. This is required to claim. Businesses often keep their best rewards for customers who stay subscribed. You can unsubscribe from any business at any time under You → Businesses you hear from, or by replying STOP; a later claim never overrides an earlier unsubscribe. See the Ask Lucilla Privacy Policy, Section 5.2
- Claiming also follows the business. Claiming a business's reward, deal or promo, buying or booking from it, or getting a ticket to its event makes you follow that business in Ask Lucilla, so its posts and new offers show up for you. Following is separate from the consent above: it controls what you see in the app, not who may message you. You can unfollow from the business's page at any time, and an unfollow is never reversed automatically
- You are responsible for any taxes on rewards you receive
12. The USDC wallet
Important: USDC transactions are processed on the Base blockchain. Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible. We are not responsible for lost funds due to user error.
- Your wallet is yours. Your Lucilla wallet is a non-custodial smart wallet that you create and control with a passkey on your device, using Circle's modular wallet infrastructure. Ask Lucilla never receives your passkey and cannot move funds out of your wallet without your authorization. Your wallet uses the Base blockchain, and the Arc blockchain if you choose it
- How money moves. USDC moves on the blockchain between users' own wallets, businesses' wallets and Ask Lucilla smart contracts. Ask Lucilla is not a money services business. Apart from the flows listed below, Ask Lucilla does not hold, transmit or exchange customers' funds on their behalf
- Escrow: USDC for reward campaigns and paid event tickets is held by Ask Lucilla smart contracts and released only under the rules in these terms. Lucilla's servers submit claim, check-in, refund and settlement transactions. The contracts are upgradeable and administered by a multi-signature wallet controlled by Lucilla, whose administrative functions can recover tokens held by the contracts.
- Lucilla-managed wallets for individuals: some accounts have a wallet that Lucilla manages through Circle on the person's behalf (marked server-managed in Download my data). It is not the passkey wallet above; our servers can move funds in it, and it is kept when the account is deleted so funds are not stranded.
- Enterprise business wallets: businesses that use Lucilla's enterprise dashboard may have a Circle wallet that Lucilla manages on the business's behalf; Lucilla initiates transfers from it (for example to fund campaigns or pay prizes and cashback) under the business's instructions and enterprise arrangement.
- Lucilla-funded campaigns and payouts: Lucilla may fund a campaign from a wallet it operates, in which case unclaimed funds return to Lucilla. Some payouts — equal-split and draw-style distributions, and cashback sent when an escrow payout cannot be completed — are sent by Lucilla's servers from a Lucilla-operated wallet or the business's managed wallet.
- Network fees. Each blockchain transaction has a small network fee. You pay it in USDC from your wallet, or Ask Lucilla sponsors it through Circle's Gas Station; the app shows which applies before you confirm.
- Not a financial institution. Lucilla is not a bank or financial institution. USDC in your wallet is not insured by the FDIC or any government agency. Rewards are not investments
- Risks. Blockchain transactions are final; smart contracts may contain bugs; networks may be congested or unavailable; the USDC peg is not guaranteed. You are responsible for safeguarding your device, passkey and recovery credentials. Lucilla is not responsible for losses caused by a compromised device, lost or shared credentials, phishing or SIM-swap
13. Buying and selling USDC
Ask Lucilla does not buy, sell or exchange cryptocurrency. If you want USDC, you can bring USDC you already own, or buy it through Coinbase, which provides buying and selling (on-ramp and off-ramp) under its own terms, identity verification and fees. Coinbase's availability, payment methods and limits depend on where you live and are decided by Coinbase. Ask Lucilla only opens Coinbase for you and shows the result in your wallet.
14. Compliance
We screen for sanctions and fraud and may block transactions, require identity verification, restrict access pending review, and cooperate with authorities where applicable law requires. You are responsible for following the laws that apply to you where you live, including those on cryptocurrency.
15. Taxes
You are responsible for any taxes on rewards, cashback or USDC you receive. Lucilla does not give tax advice.
16. Changes
We may update these terms as described in Section 18 of the Terms of Service.
